Cajun Honey Garlic Wings
Ingredients
- 5 Lb chicken wings split or whole
- 5 Tbsp Cajun rub (homemade rub recipe below) or your favorite rub
spicy honey garlic sauce
- 6 Tbsp melter butter unsalted
- 1/2 Cup franks hot sauce
- 1/3 Cup honey
- 6 garlic cloves minced
- 2-3 Tbsp Cajun rub
Cajun Rub
- 2 Tbsp paprika
- 2 Tbsp chilli powder
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar optional
- 2 Tsp garlic powder
- 2 Tsp Salt kosher
- 1 Tsp dried thyme
- 1 Tsp dried oregano
- 1 Tsp onion powder
- 1 Tsp mustard powder
- 1 Tsp celery salt
Instructions
- pat chicken wings and dust with the Cajun rub or your favourite bbq rub
- Set your charcoal grill for indirect heat cooking (3 zone split heat) set up your charcoal grill with two hot zones and one cool zone, pour the ignited coals in two equal piles on opposite sides of the lower grill grate, with a large gap between them. Chicken wings will be cooked in the middle zone.
- hold temp at 275-300 degrees and place chicken wings in the middle zone for about 1.5 to 2 hours turning halfway through
- meanwhile combine the Spicy Cajun honey garlic sauce together.
- after 1.5 hours remove wings pour sauce all over and place back over the hot cooking zone for about 3-4 minutes to caramlize the sauce without burning the chicken wings (no need to cover the grill when cooking for the last 3-4 minutes over direct heat as you are only caramelizing the sauce)
